Until 2013 the organization committee invited every year artists and creators to conceive ideas and handcraft the awards statuette from recycled natural materials, such as glass, wood, metal. Since the first year of this institution, it was decided that each statuette will be a unique, handmade, numbered piece that would be presented to the public a month before the ceremony, during a special event, exclusively dedicated to its creation.

In 2005, in the first year of the awards, Giannis Koutroulis was the artist that handcrafted the “ Bioform-tree” statuette. His creation was an effort to provide aesthetic results similar to nature by intervening in the materials.

In 2007, during the third year of the Ecopolis awards, the statuette was created out of metal and marble by Maria Christoforatou and the result was a synthesis called “Sun and Earth”.

In 2008, the Ecopolis statuette was handcrafted by recycled glass, a creation by Valentino Marengo.

For three consecutive years, from 2009 to 2011, the statuette was made out of recycled glass from bottles, in different patterns/designs each year. Its creation was the product of the collaboration between Christos - Michael Papandropoulos and Eirini Matinopoulou.

In 2012, the organization committee decided to assign the creation of the statuette to the educational institutions of fine arts and industrial design, as it recognized the importance of involving students in this effort.

As a result, in 2012, upon submission and evaluation of a number of proposals, the statuette was created by the team members of the CAD/ CAM/CAE Laboratory of the Industrial Design Department, of the Τ.Ε.Ι of Western Macedonia. It was called “ Eco-way: the right way” and it was made of aluminum and inspired by the sprout of the plants.
In 2013 the same procedure was followed. The winner of the contest was the proposal submitted once more by the CAD/CAM/CAE Laboratory of the Industrial Design Department of the T.E.I of Western Macedonia. This time the statuette was titled “Our natural footprint” and it was made of marble on a wooden basis. The concept of this design was, according to its creators, that “all actions with ecological content consist natural footprints, scars that remain indelible in time and their higher purpose is to transmit ecological messages from one generation to the other”. Moreover “the historical weight that marble as a natural material carries (see ancient Greek sculpture) in combination with the environmental awareness that is cultivated in modern Greece give the “footprint- tree” statuette the glamor that every person that acts for the benefit of the environment deserves”.
